The time for pretending that we don't know anything about maximizing human flourishing is over. We know there are right and wrong ways to cultivate happiness and well-being, which is why virtually nobody is lamenting the loss of Mr. Jong Il besides the unfortunate citizens of North Korea. If it's our responsibility, as The Living, to advance the species, then it must also be our responsibility to notice and speak up when some of us do the opposite. I have often wondered about that number, so it is nice to see someone has done some research and made an educated guess. As a woman of 57, I want to stay in touch with new technology so I can enjoy my senior years as an informed human being. I think back on just how much has been invented in my lifetime and it is amazing and I feel blessed that I have been here to enjoy this life. Rebecca Josh, great article and very thought provoking.
